Suffolk FoundationHOW THE VOLUNTARY AND COMMUNITY SECTOR CAN WORK MORE EFFECTIVELY WITH SUFFOLK POLICE

A SEMINAR HOSTED BY SUFFOLK POLICE AUTHORITY AND THE CHIEF CONSTABLE OF SUFFOLK CONSTABULARY

Monday 7th February 2011 @ 5pm
Police Headquarters Martlesham

We would like to invite you to attend an interactive seminar for the Voluntary and Community Sector on Monday 7th February 2011. The seminar is being led by Simon Ash, Chief Constable, Suffolk Constabulary and Judith Lancaster, Vice Chairman, Suffolk Police Authority. Jonathan Moore, Chief Executive, SAVO will also deliver a brief presentation highlighting the strategic context for our sector.

The seminar will last for around 2 hours and will focus on The Changing Face of Policing in Suffolk and the implications for the Voluntary and Community Sector and those we work with. We will discuss the plans for addressing the financial challenges facing the Police Service as well as sharing the Government’s proposals for police reform such as the introduction of Police and Crime Commissioners to replace Police Authorities.

The seminar will incorporate round table discussions to elicit key issues/gaps identified by our sector and discuss any potential opportunities for how Suffolk Police and the Community and Voluntary Sector can work together to address some of the inevitable challenges that lie ahead to help maintain services to all our communities.

As a sector, it is imperative that we understand the potential impact of the Government’s proposals and the budget cuts on the individuals and communities that we work with. This is an excellent opportunity for the Voluntary and Community Sector to engage with Suffolk Police and play a pivotal role in helping to shape the changing face of policing within Suffolk.

Numbers to this seminar are limited and places therefore need to be pre-booked. We would greatly appreciate your attendance to ensure that the Voluntary and Community Sector is well represented. The seminar is open to all staff and trustees from our sector.

The seminar will commence at 5pm and refreshments will be available from 4.30pm.

Please let us know in advance of any special needs you may have.
