Ipswich volunteer event a success

The Mayor of Ipswich, Councillor John Le Grys, and MP for Ipswich, Ben Gummer, were among those who gave their support to over 30 charities, community groups and statutory organisations showcasing their local services to the Ipswich public.

The event, organised in partnership by Ipswich Borough Council, Volunteer Ipswich and Ipswich Council for Voluntary Services (ICVS) was held on Friday 10th February 2012 at Ipswich Borough Council’s Grafton House and promoted the services and volunteering opportunities available with local organisations. The event was a huge success, with many connections being made between interested volunteers and local groups, many of which rely on volunteers to deliver their services and activities.

Kirk Jackson, Volunteer Support and Development Officer at ICVS, says “we are very pleased that this event attracted employees of local organisations and members of the public and introduced them to volunteer opportunities in their community. The success of the event is very positive and enables us to continue developing our service with local organisations who would like our support. This bodes well for the future and we hope to run similar events again this year.”
